Apple Greenwich CT – Last Minute Christmas

Saturday, December 24th, 2011 By

For those of you in need of a last minute Christmas present for me, it’s not too late. Run down to the Greenwich Apple Store at 356 Greenwich Avenue. They are open until 5pm today. I’d be happy with pretty much anything they are selling. Always a good idea to support your local realtor and the local shop that has been robbed.

Holiday Sales on Greenwich Avenue

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011 By

For those of you who have some extra cash to spare, Meg Nolan van Reesema wrote a great article on Patch.com about sales on Greenwich Avenue. Here’s a little blurb from her article:”I know, it’s a holiday saying, but in the world of Greenwich Avenue, right now, is indeed one of the most wonderful times of the year: sale time.Every year, as soon as the holiday mad-dash is over and people have spent top dollar for their gifts, just about everything goes on sale. (Don’t even get me started on what that does to the value of your returns.) Gone are the storefront’s twinkling lights and nutcracker displays and in its place are glaring, mostly red and white, sale signs. Sometimes I’m hard pressed to say which I prefer. Despite the loss of holiday cheer, the mostly, Ave-wide sales do make January a little less brutal.”for the rest please go here.

THING 62 – FREE CUPCAKES @ CRUMBS!!!!

Friday, December 17th, 2010 By

Crumbs (The Original Gourmet Cupcake) is giving away 1,000 free cupcakes at its store in Greenwich (48 West Putnam Avenue) starting at 8am.  I’m sorry, but that’s freaking awesome. I’ve got nothing against bribery to get my business.

THING 57 – Be Wise about your Wine in Greenwich

Monday, December 13th, 2010 By

Yeah, that’s a horrible tagline I came up with, but hopefully you’ll remember the store (WineWise).  If you are looking for white zinfandel (booooo) or something in a box (yeahhhh) this isn’t your place. WineWise is a boutique wine shop focused on small production wines that you’ll have a hard time finding elsewhere.  They do not deal high-volume, discount store wine.  The store is great and has a constantly changing selection of wines from all around the globe. To those of us who might need some help picking out bottles or want to try out something new, I couldn’t recommend WineWise more. They host many tastings and pride themselves on making wine buying fun and easy going. The store is owned by Christopher Kull, who has over 30 years of experience dealing with international luxury products, and managed by his daughter Joy Kull (pic).  Joy attended the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell focusing on Beverage Management.  Unlike those of us who focused on Beverage Consumption in college, Joy went to college with a purpose. She is extremely well prepared to help you with your wine selection. Their store is located at 122E Putnam Ave (right next to Whole Foods and that god forsaken parking lot) and has a personal parking lot off Milbank Ave (thank the lord).  You can also park right in front of the store.   Pay attention to their billboard in the Whole Foods parking lot as they constantly have deals for Whole Foods shoppers (after those bills any help is appreciated).I wish them the best of luck and congratulate them on their new sexy looking webpage: http://www.winewisegreenwich.com/

THING 51 – Greenwich Newcomers @ Saks

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010 By

Saks is hosting a gathering for the Greenwich Newcomers Society (www.greenwichnewcomerssociety.com) tonight and I thought it would be worth writing about. I don’t know much about the Newcomer’s Society, but it seems like a neat organization for anyone that wants to learn more about the town.  I’m in the process of talking to Greg Kraut to learn more myself, but if anyone out there has had any experience with the group please feel free to speak up.

“Join us for a festive evening of wine and refreshments, private shopping, complimentary makeovers and 15% off your purchases.    For more information, please contact Geri Corrigan at

6:30 PM to 8:30 PM - Saks Fifth Avenue - 205 Greenwich Avenue  Greenwich, CT 06830”

THING 37 – Buy a Butterball

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010 By

It’s that time of the year.  Thanksgiving has to be one of my favorite holidays.  You get to eat all you want and “relax” with your family.   Since we are only two days away I would highly recommend going out to buy your turkey now (if you haven’t done so already).  As you will learn over the next year, I’m not the biggest fan of the Grocery-Store-Not-To-Be-Named (“GSNTBN”) due to its ridiculous pricing and even more ridiculous parking lot.  I personally shop at the Stop and Shop off the post road, west of the Greenwich Library.  I believe they have great prices and a good level of variety.  I’m sure I’ll get into my grocery store opinions later, but for today let’s talk turkey!Butterball has my vote. They received it during the 3rd season of West Wing when I realized (along with President Bartlet) that they have a hotline (1-800-BUTTERBALL) to help people with the cooking of their Thanksgiving turkeys.  I’m a sucker for marketing and incredible TV shows, so that’s all it took to get my vote.  Fortunately I will not be cooking the turkey this year, but if I was I would buy a Butterball and call for help.via 365 Things to do in Greenwich, CT – Greenwich Real Estate, Greenwich Homes, Houses and Properties.

THING 22 – CONSIGN IT

THING 22 – CONSIGN IT

Sometime after I stopped getting an allowance I worked for a wonderful store in Greenwich called Consign It (I’m hoping you can figure out what they do…).  My job was simple – I was a mover.  I moved lamps, I moved tables, I move jewelry, I moved rugs.  I was part of an elite special ops white gloved moving crew.  You laugh, but let’s see how easy it would be for you to move a Chippendale dresser through a dining room full of crystal, without so much as a nick or chime.  Although I, at the time, was trying to understand what this dresser had to do with guys in tiny bathing suits, I was pretty darn good at my job.   June (moving crew captain) taught me well.

I learned a lot about the town as I drove around it all day.  I learned a lot about furniture as I spent more time holding it than sitting in it.  The management at Consign It is top tier.  You will not find anyone in the northeast that is more knowledgeable about antiques and how to sell them.  Not only do they run a fantastic operation at 115 Mason Street, but Consign It is also well known for getting top dollar out of major estate sales.

If you are in the market to buy or sell a dresser, rug, set of drapes, painting, or if you just want to check out some neat stuff I highly recommend making your way down to 115 Mason Street (one block from Greenwich Avenue – between Lewis and E Elm).
